Job Title: Psychologist/Clinical Social Worker

Responsible to: Director of Clinical Services

Safety checks: Working with Children and Victorian Police Checks are required for this position.

Hours: Part time – 15 hours per week. This position requires a minimum expectation to attend weekend grief camps, out-of-hours/outreach work and office-based team meetings.

Contract: Part-time 12-month contract and is subject to 6 monthly reviews.

Salary: Employed within Health Professionals and Support Services Award Level 4 pay point 3 with over time rates for weekend plus 11% superannuation.

At Wombat’s Wish, our Mission is to support parentally bereaved children and young people through their lifecycle of grief.

Based in Geelong / Bellarine, we have supported Victorian children and their families through weekend camp programs for over 15 years. Based on the highly regarded Winston’s Wish program in the UK, our Camp program is therapeutic provided by a team of professional facilitators and trained volunteers.

Due to the increasing demand for services and our expanded service offering, we have a newly created role focused on making a difference in the lives of families we support.

We are looking for a purpose-driven Clinical lead to support our management team in providing existing services and developing new and innovative support options.

About the role

Our vision is to be leaders in child bereavement support, influencing thriving communities for generations.

The responsibilities of the role are:

· Provide evidence-based professional services to our clientele with their area of expertise.

· Provide scientific evidence-based individual and/or group support and counselling to children, young people and adults who have experienced significant bereavement in their family.

· You’ll be involved in developing and delivering services to children & families on an individual and group basis throughout our existing flagship weekend camps programs, and through our expansion into 1:1 support, small group support and broader community support.

· Maintain contemporary knowledge, skills and evidence-based practice through regular professional development and supervision.

· Practice following relevant ethical standards and best practices per professional registration, membership boards, and organisations.

Clinical decision-making & operational accountabilities;

· Conduct psychological assessments and testing using evidence-based tools and resources.

· Conduct risk including assessment of suicide and self-harm risk, organisational risk and/or risk to others, providing appropriate follow-up and support through referrals or treatment.

· Support the implementation of a comprehensive academic evaluation of the current camp programs.

· Assess the implementation of recommendations from internal and external evaluation processes in collaboration with the Board, staff and volunteers.

· Attend camp and other programs to meet therapeutic needs and support delivery.

· Provide 1:1 and small group services to support families and stakeholders.

· Support the development and implementation of the Board’s Strategic Plan.

· Operate at all times within an ethical framework and professional manner aligned to the expectations of a Psychologist/Clinical Social Worker as mandated by AHPRA or other professional, legal and regulatory bodies applicable to the practice of psychology/clinical social work.

Essential Criteria:

· Tertiary qualifications in psychology or clinical social workers.

· At least two years of clinical experience post-registration.

· Current Medicare eligibility for a provider number.

· Demonstrated experience in providing evidence-based therapeutic interventions across a range of presenting issues and clientele.

· Demonstrated experience working from a trauma-informed approach with children between 5-18 years and their families.

· Full registration with AHPRA or AASW or registration as a clinical social worker

· Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision.

· Demonstrated skills in developing initiatives to support best practice in psychology.
